Life insurance
Final expense insurance — also called burial insurance — is a small whole life policy that helps your family pay for a funeral, burial or cremation and other end-of-life bills. Coverage can last for life as long as premiums are paid.

There are two main kinds of final expense plans. Which one fits depends mostly on your health.
You answer a short list of health questions instead of taking a medical exam. Depending on your answers and the plan, the full benefit may be available from the first day of coverage.
No health questions for applicants within the eligible ages. These plans usually have a waiting period — often two years — before the full benefit is paid for death from natural causes. During that time, many plans refund the premiums paid, sometimes with interest.
The benefit is paid to your beneficiary, who can use it for any expense.
Final expense policies usually offer smaller amounts than traditional life insurance. Many families choose an amount close to the cost of a funeral. Rates vary by age, health, state and plan.
It can be, if you want to spare your family the cost of a funeral and don’t have savings or other life insurance set aside for it. If you do, you may not need it. We can help you weigh both.
Many carriers accept applicants from about age 50 to 85. Age limits vary by carrier and state.
On most final expense whole life policies, premiums are level and do not increase with age. We will confirm the terms of each policy before you apply.
